It's a fairly rare occurance actually which saddens me. We intended to see The Dragon Tattoo movie but I wasn't in the mood for a two and a half hour joint. Who is? Movies are just too damn long. That's my main beef with them. Length. Anyway, we went to see that movie but instead saw Marky Mark's latest joint Contraband. It wasn't all that bad really. I was pleasantly surprised by the actual quality of the movie. I expected it to be more action oriented like Armored but it was more of a serious minded crime film with some action elements like The Inside Man or Departed, both of which are better than this movie if you hadn't seen them yet. The deal is that Marky was like the greatest smuggler of all time but has since gone legit and become a family man. That is until his doofus brother in law gets involved with a real grimy Giovanni Ribisi who plays the kind of crook that will burn down your house and kill your wife to get his money, if you know what I'm sayin'. So Marky's brother in law gets in deep with the Ribisi crew which forces Marky out of retirement for one last run. It sounds easy but since this is a movie it gets real complicated real fast. With trips to Panama and gunfights with the cops or whatever. Ben Foster is also in the movie as Marky's best pal and hetero life mate. (Foster does look a little fruity in his construction boss jacket but that avenue is never explored) Foster is a real good actor and he always manages to bring a certain gravitas to small roles. He does that again here. I like me some Ben Foster. Not in a gay way though. That avenue has never been explored. Contraband is a decent Saturday afternoon flick. Not a main event winner like The Departed but better than Armored (i don't know why that stupid movie is stuck in my head) or the prequal to Death Race if not the original remake with Jason Stratham behind the wheel. If you want to see Contraband do so with the blessing of ISR. I give it a thumbs up. Not the Fonzie style thumbs ...
<dc:subject>movies</dc:subject>

Kick Butt Like The NWO

Remember when Hall and Nash seemed like the coolest dudes on Earth? Me too. It was a weird time for cool. I like how they are super rebellious but totally tuck their t-shirts into their jeans. A Pictorial History Of Wrestling. It has a lot of really great photography in it. Great wrestling photography I should say. I've had this book forever. I think that I got it at the Waldenbooks that we used to have in our mall. It's long since gone, sadly. I've always liked this pic of Blackjack. I'm totally disgusted by the way the blood is clotted on his head. It's so yucky. I also like his Blackjack Mulligan T-shirt. I would rock that hard if I had one. I bet that it's yellow. Dig the way that Blackjack is squeezing the crap out of his head with that work glove. Gnarly. I don't know who's head he is squeezing though. Dick Slater? The first one has tripped me out for years. I know that the Macho Man wasn't squeaky clean but I'm surprised that he ran with the Aryan Crew. Dave Schultz, the dude in the shirt is pretty bad ass though, like he's a bad dude. Back in the day he slapped John Stossel during a TV interview when Stossel asked him if wrestling was on the up and up. I guess if he showed up in a Nazi shirt it's possible that no one would mention it. It'd be like the elephant in the room, Dr. D's Nazi shirt. It's pretty trippy though. Ok, so what we have going left to right is Ryu and Capt. America, Dr. Doom and Wesker, Amaterasu and Thor and Modok and Akuma. Modok is pretty bad ass. I dig his little chair. I am so looking forward to this fight. It's gonna be so awesome. They are both tough guys but in like such a different way. Diaz is the punk ass type from Stockton and Cerrone has that cowboy thing going for him. I think that Diaz is going to win the fight. I always think that Diaz is going to win the fight though so I am a bit biased in that regard. He really is going to win though. Cerrone is no joke don't get me wrong. He's good standing and he's awesome off of his back. I just think that Diaz is good enough standing that he is going to be able to get ahold of Cowboy and get the fight to the ground. Cerrone has skills down there but Diaz is off the meter with his locks and chokes. He should be able to either hold him on the ground and beat him up or catch him with some sort of hold. I'm gonna say choke, triangle choke in the 2nd round and he'll flip the double birds while he's doing it. ...
<dc:subject>MMA</dc:subject>

Three Pics Of Brittany Daniels

...
<dc:subject>Pics</dc:subject>

EPMD And A Fuzzy Hat

I love this pic of EPMD. It was pretty cool. She owned a hotel and we'd have the run of the place during the hot as hell Tennessee summers. It was one of those old style southern white washed hotels that served smoked ham and biscuits at breakfast time and smoked ham, creamed corn and biscuits for supper. Which was served around 4 in the afternoon. It was really great. Near the border of Tennessee and Kentucky there was this clothing store called Crow's that my mom liked to hit up when we were in the area. Crow's had really low prices on jeans so we would stock up a few pair for me and my brother for the upcoming school year. It was a cool store with a faux western motif before things like that became popular. Besides clothes they had toys and stuff like lasso rope, spurs and doo-dads for your saddle. Maybe it wasn't a faux western store after all. Maybe it was a real one and a lifetime of seeing faux western stuff has made it so that I wouldn't recognize the real deal if I saw it. One year during the peak of the video game craze Crow's put a little arcade in the back by their toy section. That was the most awesome news ever at the time. We had video games where I came from of course but my parent's were looser with the quarters while we were on the road then they were when we were at our local arcade so I was expecting a few dollar bills as opposed to a quarter or two to play with. They came through, and the game I remember playing the most with my family trip loot was Crazy Climber. Crazy Climber was this game where you were a Human Fly type character that could scale up sky scrapers as easily as you or me could walk down the street but like any game worth it's salt there were obstacles to slow your roll. Stuff like this bald dude who hucked flower pots at you and signs that fell from the roof of the building plus the windows on the building would ...
<dc:subject>Video Games</dc:subject>

Machida Staggering Around, An Animated Gif

I was rewatching the fight last night with a couple of friends of mine and got really caught up in this little clip here. I liked it so much that I went out and got some software to make animated gifs. This is actually my first try. That's how funny I thought Machida looked staggering around in the back. It's the way that he's dressed that does it for me I think. Like how is hat is kind of sideways and his shirt is all askew. Then his helpers have to lead him back the right way. I wonder where he was going anyway? He looks like a big kid or a disabled guy. That's sad actually. This was minutes after he got beat up by Jon Jones. I'm sure that he is fine by now. I mean, this set isn't available until April and I haven't even gotten my hands on any new mates since Marvel Vs Capcom but it's always cool to see what is going to be released in the future. I guess this wave is OK if I didn't already have like a full shelf dedicated to Captain America. I know, I get it. These are supposed to coincide with the Avengers movie or something like that and I understand how merchandising works but sometimes I like to get my hands on characters that I don't already have. Call me weird. Ok, starting at the top and working from left to right we have A Kree Sentry (here's a new character dummy) Ant Man, Thor, (Peter David's) Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and Giant Man... The gimmick is that they are all like the 90's version of the heroes. That's cool. I liked the 90's. (obviously).
